How do I run OPD during Covid-19 pandemic?

These are testing times for the healthcare community. We are in the middle of an unprecedented, once-in-a-lifetime pandemic that has claimed more than a million lives so far. The government decided to lock down many cities and towns, rightly so, but it also affected the OPD services for millions of chronic patients and for non-serious conditions. This article tells how you can a run virtual OPD during Covid 19 pandemic so you can continue to treat patients in these difficult times through telemedicine.

If you consulting patients at clinic. Click here to read how OPDlift can help you practice social distancing safely at your clinic without affecting patient volume, while consulting patients online.

Following these three simple steps, you will be able to start consulting patients within 4 hours. And that too, without requiring any additional device, setup or training. So read on and you will be on your way to digitally consult your patients without any fear of spreading infection.

Step 1, Online Appointment Booking: We will create a webpage through which patients can book appointments with you. In order to create this webpage, we will require basic information such as your specialization and OPD timings. This information can be shared over email or WhatsApp and your exclusive webpage will be ready within 3 hours.

See the sample webpage for clinic. We will also add this to your clinic’s Google Maps so that new patients can easily find you and book appointments online.

Step 2, Online Payment: Consultation fees can be collected in a method of your choice – UPI (PhonePe, BHIM, Google Pay), Wallet (PayTM), QR code or Netbanking via NEFT/IMPS. Whichever mode is convenient to you, will be displayed along with the consultation fees. The payment will come directly to your account so you do not have to worry about cross-checking with us at any time. We do not take any commission on your consultation fees. We work on a fixed monthly fee with clinics, learn more about our charges here.

Step 3, Consultation: Once the appointment is booked, you will be notified to consult the patient over a phone or video call, as per your comfort and requirement. Consultation slots will be pre-booked and you will be able to see the queue of patients and schedule automatic follow-ups. You can shift between online and real consultations as our system works for walk-in patients, equally well. Once the consultation is over, you can easily share the prescription with the patient by one-touch from within our app. You won’t have to type the prescription on your mobile. You write it on your letterpad in the usual way using pen & paper. Please remember to write “Telemedicine” or “Teleconsultation” at the top of the prescription to avoid any medico-legal liabilities in future. You can read more about ways to share the prescription in online consultation here.

Please note that we do not store any medical record. We store patient’s mobile number in order to send consultation and follow-up reminders. Our data privacy policy.

And we are done. It is really that simple and your patients will continue to avail your monitoring and consultations. Please call us at 80884 39968 or email at to activate your account within a few hours. Team OPDlift is working hard (remotely!) so you can start consulting your patients as early as possible.

As luck would have it lockdown started in the 3rd week of March 2020 and it was serendipity that OPDlift was already part of my clinic app. Deepak and his team swung into action and re-worked the app for Teleconsultation during the lockdown. The most important aspect which I liked about it was the fact, that the Consultation timing and the duration of consultation was individualised to suit my schedule. A good app, since the team is willing to go the extra mile to tailor the doctors requirement.

One of our partners introduced me to the concept of teleconsultation using OPDlift. Till date this concept was totally new and I was quite unsure how the patients will accept it. Right from the very first day I received a tremendous support from Shubham who was always there to solve any issues. The best part was that it had a option of telephonic as well as video consultation and WhatsApp. I would have no hesitation in recommending this platform to my other colleagues.
